Pastor

The pastor is the chief officer,he is a man called by God to preach the gospel, ordained to the work of the ministry, and called by a church to serve as its leader. He must be a man of the highest-type Christian character.—1 Timothy 3:1-7;Titus 1:5-9

He is the leader of the church and is to have oversight of the work.—1 Peter 5:1-2; 1 Timothy 6:12,13.17; Hebrews 13:7,17

He must study, preach, teach, lead, exhort and reprove,—2 Timothy 2:15; 4:1-5 and must one day give answer to God for the way he has done his work.—2 Hebrews 13:17;1 Peter5:4.

He is to lead the church in accordance with the teaching of God's Word. If he is truly a man of God,he will ever be doing his best for the Lord, for the church, and for its every member.

God called my family and I to Palmetto Baptist in April of 2009. We are so thankful that God allows us to serve in the most loving and compassionate church around. It has blessed our hearts to see the love that our church has for our family, each other and our community.

Before being called into the ministry, I knew about the things of God growing up, but was not raised in church on a regular basis. My wife, Marsha, who was also my high school sweetheart, was. She was saved as a child and I was saved as a teenager, after I began attending church with Marsha's family. It has been a blessing to see how God has allowed us to use those differences in our backgrounds for His ministry. We are both able to witness and relate to others in different aspects when reaching out to others that are lost and in need of the saving grace of Jesus.

Marsha and I were married in August of 1998 and we have three wonderful sons; Isaac, Caleb and Jacob. Isaac, our oldest, is our special-needs child and what a blessing it has been. Isaac suffered an in-utero stroke and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. In 2006, Isaac's condition worsened when his seizures became life-threatening and in 2007 he underwent hemispherectomy brain surgery in Georgia. Though the journey of having a special needs child is not always easy, God has given my wife and I a testimony of God's forgiveness and faithfulness that we would never have experience otherwise.

From the work of God in our lives, we have been able to reach out to others through the ministry of "Isaac's Journey" at speaking engagements, banquets and through book publishing. To learn more about the story of Isaac, please visit: www.caringbridge.org/visit/isaacedens
